Hitachi 40" CRT Rear projection TV model 40WH08B?

Stand by light is still on, no sound or picture.

When switching on TV, no picture .....then it makes the clicking sound of it switching itself off again.

TV is now 5 years old & unsure if going though insurance or trying repair

Has anybody managed to fix it? Mine has same problem, found 40WHREPKIT REPAIR KIT TOSHIBA on internet for £45 but don't have a clue what it includes or if it is even something that I could do? Please help

I know this is 3 years later but I have the same problem...

Rob how did you fix it?

Jo, March 2009
Well I've solved the problem with my TV. It would be nice if you could get back to me with regards to my last post. Are you prepared to fix yourself even?

Just to confirm Toshiba AKA Grundig Accoro 102....,
I'm curious but if you were to remove the back cover, 10 screws, (with mains plug removed from socket) you will see two large heat sinks (large shiny metal blocks), immediately below these there are three 7-pin connector plugs labelled Green, Red and Blue. When I remove the Blue connector the Tv switches on no problem and everything works, obviously less the Blue light gun so picture is un-converged and missing blue colour. If then I plug the Blue connector into the Red socket (with the mains plug removed from the socket), again the Tv switches on OK no problems, so at least this then eliminates the problem lying with the blue gun at least and proves the fault lies within the power distribution board PB9487.
If you feel comfortable doing this then it would be well worth doing to troubleshoot the fault and to see if we are both aiming towards the same fault and symptons.
Best Regards

Hi Iain
p.s. Also known as Grundig Accoro 102 MFW102-6110MV/AC3
I am also having this problem and can only find reference relating to a protection circuit which switches the TV off to prevent any further damage being caused. There is a kit called 40WHREPKIT, don't know what it consists of or where to get one from or how much which would reset the fault but then its finding the root of the problem which caused this to happen in the first place. Another site had reference to resistor R821 and diode D802 and transistor but no reference to which one, would fix the symptoms!
Keep you updated if I work it all out, hope you'll do the same

Apologies...it is Toshiba not Hitachi
