humax pvr9150t subtitle freeze & unresponsive remote ?

Subtitle freezes & remote unresponsive - have turned it off at the back works for about 2 minutes then the same happens. Have done a factory reset; taken out the aerial and done the programme search then put aerial back in. Nothing is working.

Anyone having the same problems or have solutions?

This is happening to lots of people. The broadcast signal has changed slightly. New software for the 9150 works fine but most previous versions do not.

The issue with the broadcast signal has temporarily ceased. But for future compatibility the latest version of the software should be installed.

To see which version of software you are using see MENU > System > Status. The software version for 9150/9300 should be displayed as ending in 1.00.26. (for 9200 it is 1.00.23).

There are two ways of updating your recorder to the latest software.

1)
The first relies on your recorder working. It also relies on an 'over the air' (OTA) broadcast of a more up to date software. The OTA software broadcasts do not happen every day.
The web site http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php tells which software update is about to be broadcast for the next week or two.

For the 9150 it currently reports
"Mon 19-12-2011 1am to Mon 19-12-2011 9am"
"Wed 21-12-2011 10am to Thu 22-12-2011 9am"
"Mon 26-12-2011 10am to Tue 27-12-2011 9am"
"Wed 28-12-2011 10am to Thu 29-12-2011 9am"

During a broadcast use your remote’s MENU button
MENU > Installation (default password is 0000) > Software Update > Manual Update
to download the software.

NOTE that after downloading the new software you must execute a default settings otherwise odd errors will creep in .
MENU > Installation (default password is 0000) > Default Setting
This will not wipe your recordings but it will wipe your schedule, ‘favorites’ and tuning.

2)
For the alternative method you will need:
• an internet connection to download the software,
• installation software,
• a PC with a serial port; or a PC and a USB to serial adapter (about £8 online – quality of instructions vary, or £20+ on the high street); the ones with ‘prolific’ chips work a treat,
• a null modem cable (less than £2 online or £11 on the high street if you are in a hurry or want a pretty one).

The software is available from humax digital support pages

Installation software is available from either
http://www.humaxdigital.com/global/support/downloadcenter_model_tool.aspx?category_seq=56
or
http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/flash9200.html

NOTE that after installing the new software you must execute a default settings otherwise odd errors will creep in .
MENU > Installation (default password is 0000) > Default Setting
This will not wipe your recordings but it will wipe your schedule, ‘favorites’ and tuning.
