Zanussi WJD tumbles but no heat?

The machine washes perfectly, including heating the water but, if tumble drying, the unit does not heat up. Is a separate heater used in the tumble-dry cycle? As I have no service manual a rough guide as to what's likely to be needed and where it goes would be much appreciated.
