Hotpoint aquarius 1100 (WM63) trips main power?

Washing machine trips the main power when switched on but after the water has filled up.
I have read some articles on similar forums and tried to fix the fault myself.

Firstly, I have replaced the brushes in the motor but this still trips the power.
Secondly, I have disconnected the motor entirly. The mains power still trips.
Thirdly, I have tested heater element with multimeter. I got a reading of 26 OHMs across terminals and Infinite reading between each terminal and heater sleeve. This I believe to be OK.

I'd much appreciate it if anyone can help me further in finding what is causing this problem.

Unplugged all terminals from the heater element and success. The main power does not trip anymore. Many thanks for help.

Thanks for info on unplugging heater. I'll try this, but should I unplug all three terminals and also the electrical connector to what I think could be a thermastat. I will have to put the machine back together to do this in order test it.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried plugging into a different socket but it still trips (Not sure if we have a different line). I also tried the original socket with something else and it worked fine. I've also just checked continuity of cable with multimeter and is OK.

You have not said that you unplugged the heater and tried it, Could be blowing as it starts to heatup, even though it meters ok.

did you check the socket were the power is comming from,, and the cable going to the machine, try it into a different socket. useing a power reel, too a power socket on a different line, and see if it still trips, ps it sounds like when the water stops filling and when the element kicks in ,, thats when it trips the power, try a different socket or power output in your home,
