A 2p coin could of damaged the lens, so it would not be able to read cd's Only way to check, is open it up, if damaged, possibly cheaper to buy new than repair, you may be lucky, once opened up, you may find that the 2p coin has twisted something, so realign and try, some very delicate parts inside, twist easy.
