It sounds like you're talking about the female 1/8" phono connector, located inside the player's case. If so, it just needs to be removed and replaced. The part costs about 2 bucks from Mouser Electronics. If you don't have a soldering station with SMT capabilities, you'll want to find an electronics shop. Ask a salesperson at the local electronics parts house if they know somebody who can solder SMT, or maybe check at your local college's electronics department. SMT means "surface mount technology" and that means REALLY SMALL! A regular soldering station won't do.
