Hoover Viso VHD 8142 washing machine - can it be fixed?
Hi, my washing machine has recently stopped working. The door locks but the start/ pause light just flashes - water doesn't enter the machine & the wash doesn't start. I've had someone look at it and they said the motherboard had gone - is this correct? is it worth replacing at a cost of £120? Can I fix it myself? the machine is approx 4 years old.
Can you replace the bearings on the drum if so how? Do you have to split the drum to do this?

is that machine still not under manufacturers warranty if its only 4 years old? you pay Hoover for call out parts free.

Only you can answer that question. You know the overall condition of the machine (is it rusty/ shabby looking or still in good nick) Compare the cost of repair to what the cost of a new machine in your area would cost. Phone another repair company & ask for a second opinion on circuit board. I have seen many cases of service people just guessing and saying you need a new board when in fact the fault was elsewhere.

if its 4 years old, and did a lot of work over 4 years, if you get a new motherboard for 120, and you have a different problem with some other part, .. i would get a new one might be the best way out,,,,
