I have a 5 changer RCA boom box with detachable speakers. One day my husband was using it and I blew a fuse. Everything still works- the tape player, the cd player, however there is no sound. It's been 4 years or so ago, but it seems like I tried the speakers on something else and they still work. The system was just over a year old, so I was hoping it could be fixed. It was not the most expensive box, but it wasn't so cheap either.
