My 7 year old son has changed his Windows XP password but cannot remember what to. Is there a way to find out?

If all password are forgotten / lost - there is a way of recovering....
But you will require a floppy disk with a password reset program - this will wipe ALL passwords on the system - it can only be run from the actual PC being used as the program boots prior to windows.

Any computer shop should be able to fix it - by computer shop I don't mean PC World, Dixons etc - they'll probably tell you it can't be done without wiping the whole system!!

Hopefully your son's account is not the only account on the PC. Hopefully someone else has an account with Administrator rights. If so, this user needs to login and change the password on your son's account.

You'll find all the accounts via the User Accounts Icon in your Control Panel.
