Which is the correct socket for a detached mini plug. ?

'Zanussi ZDT5053 (Built In) Dishwasher'. In the process of renewing the door catch a 4 contact mini plug was accidentally detached from the main control unit. There are 2 sockets adjacent that match the plug. Can you suggest how I might indentify the correct one? Many thanks!

George & Paul, I appreciate your attempts to help. I am aware of the importance of noting the position of connections etc but unfortunately they aren't visible until the unit is clear of the door casing. It may be that it wasn't originally connected, as not needed, on this particular model. I had already searched, unsuccessfully, for a wiring diagram before posting the question. I certainly wont be trying the 'suck it & see approach which I'd like to think was 'tongue in cheek'. I just thought there might be a pro repairer with experience of this make/model but thanks anyway. CP

Choose one, plug it in turn on power. If it goes bang you will know it was wrong and next time you will carefully make note of all wiring positions before touching anything. On a more serious note, those plugs usually have small tabs which will only fit in one socket even though the sockets may be similar shape & size. See if you can find the tabs and count how many and what spacing then see if either socket matches. Good luck.
