Firebird 1997 combi 90, cannot turn off central heating?

I have the above boiler which the only way to turn off the central heating is to turn off the main switch on the wall. It has a time switch on it which you can turn heating on and off, but this does not work either. Can you help please???
Also the burner has locked out and continues to lock out after pressing the red button.

HI, i'm an oftec engineer, and have worked on many firebirds, indeed i have a 2010 heatpac external at home.
your fault sounds like the circuit board behind the control panel is faulty. i've seen the same fault a few times.
call firebird in ivybridge, plymouth, they have a good aftersales team.
As for continually locking out, try pulling out the photocell on the burner, it looks very much like a spark plug cap, and check the electronic photosensetive 'eye' on the end isnt sooted up. this will cause lockouts.
A lockout will always be a fuel or ignition fault, so check your tank-or inline- oil filter isnt blocked, and that there is no water in the fuel, but a worn out riello RDB/G5 oil pump can also be to blame.
