Can I remove the thermostat from my Danfoss RV?

I have put radiator covers over two radiators and find that the thermostatic radiator valves installed on the radiators and inside the covers cut off the heat. There is a build up of heat inside the covers which gives a false temperature and prevent the rooms from warming up to the desired temperatures. Can I remove the thermostats from the valves.

Usually they just unscrew from the base unit, just loosing them would do.
More ecological fuel saving thing would be to replace them with remote sensing thermostatic valves, they have a temperature sensing unit on the end of a long pipe, away from the radiator, outside the cover.
