I also have an Amana LW6143WM Washing Machine - How do I replace the belt?

My 10 year old Amana LW6143WM Washing Machine belt began squeaking and smelling of rubber. Had no trouble finding a replacement belt. But got into the washing machine and can not figure out how to get the belt off of the motor assembly and replace it with new one. It looks like the motor and pulley and drainage system is all one piece. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas? Is there a Web Site that could help.

HEllo i just changed mine today; although mine is an older HOTPOINT machine...there are 2 pulleys..you undo 2 small (8-10mm) screws that hold a coupling on top of the motor..its a rubber coupling and sorta looks like a sliced onion..then you can remove the zzzzzzzzzzzzzdrive belt that turns the MOTOR..both pulleys hold the belt tight, so on mine, i had to undo 3 bolts that hold the MOTOR before you can remove the drive belt...you loosen these 3 -4 bolts UNDERNEATH the motor..don't undo them all the way..just enough to slide the motor back and forth..this will loosen and tighten the belt like on a car alternator..USE a CROWBAR..HOLD the crowbar and retighten the 3 screws (or how many you have) that hold the motor...you should only be able to push a little over half an inch play..the belt should be fairly tight and ready to go..GOOD LUCK..my machine works fine now..we were ready to get rid of it and the belt only cost $8.00...its a bit of a tough job, but go for it..REMEMBER :SHUT OFF WATER and isconnect POWER and both water HOSES Gail
