amber warming light comes on.if i thump top of unit near warning lights then i hear unit starting up and amber light eventually goes out,only leaving green power light on.But at some stage unit goes off again.Why and what could be the problem ? Thankyou very much for any help.

Thanks sd.Do you think thermostat is sticking ? Unit is about 6yrs old.Been well looked after.i unplugged it for several weeks recently,and fault only came about when i plugged it back in.Green power light is on but no compressor noise to indicate it is working.I then GENTLY TAP IT !!!! and low and behold it starts up.Certainly not abused.God forbid.

Could be, bad connection somewhere, compressor fault, or it is sick of being thumped.
