Philips 28PW632A?

I've had this TV for 10 years without any trouble apart from the last 3 month when it started to develop an intermittent fault. The screen started to flash green and go off for moment then come back on. It some times loses sound but most times it's just loss of picture. I've had it to a local repair shop who said it was the tube and started to offer me interest free deal on another TV (Suspect or what)

Yes more than likely tube int grid/cathode short circuit - when it goes green if you see 20 or so fine lines running diagonaly then definately a tube problem as the Automatic black level control should be able to deal with these. Cathodizing (Boosting) the tube will be a temp cure but not to many Engineers bother anymore?

From the symptoms you've described and with the age of the TV, unfortunately, intermittent arcing inside the tube is a strong possibility.
