When selecting a record the pick up deck traverses
along both ways but does not pick up the records.

What could the fault be?

I had same problem with my jukebox NSM 120A. If you move the sledge slowly forwards and back you should hear a small ticking from the stepperunit that is placed down at the bottom to the left, if you do so you can be sure of the function of reading is correct. I think that you are missing 27v to the "Triprelay". In my case it was a zenerdiod (ZL27) that was broken in the stepperunit.
