I encountered the same problem and there is a starter relay next to the compressor that just unplugged and was defective. I had the misfortune to call out Sears and was stiffed for $222 trip, labor, and part for a 2 minute diagnosis. So, unplug this part and have it checked or just buy one and plug it in. My fridge is just 3 years old. The tech said he's seen about 40 of these defective parts since May '06.
