no the draw is unlocked i can open it with the release button.

Release button seems fine. the draw opened with just one price entry, PLU1 then cash/tend, but when i tried to add more than one price together and then complete sale it came up with draw error. i've tried initial clear but it didn't help.

Drawer error usually means you are trying to operate with the drawer open. If it is closed, then the drawer switch may have a problem. Take the drawer tray out and have a look in the back of the drawer where the latch is. You will see a small switch that gets pressed when the drawer is closed. Make sure the switch and wires are okay. Try holding the switch while you operate to see if it still shows the problem.
