Help my out of warranty Hotpoint WF860 shows H20?

My WF860 starts then after a couple of mins a tap symbol is shown and displays H20.
I believe it could be a supply /valve problem.
I have checked the supply - pipes and pressure all ok.
Could you advise how top check the valves and trace fault.
I'm a sparky by trade but dont know much about washing machines evidently.
Any help is a big help

Thanks

h20 is an indicator that the machine is not getting any or enough water...or even not recognising that there is enough water in it.(which would be a pressure system problem...hose orswitch)
if my memory serves me right, you should get a reading of about 4k from a a functioning valve
when you select a cycle the machine will fill for about 20sec to the back of the left hand side of the drawer using one of the coils on the double valve ,it will then switch to the other coil on that valve following a short pause, filling through the powder side of the drawer to the rquired level... if the machine detects a drop in water level during the wash it will top up using hot(ifyou have a hot and cold fill machine)
hope this helps
