Potterton c/heating boiler keeps cutting out?

i have a potterton boiler coupled with an indirect central heating hot water tank, every couple of days i hear the grundfos heating pump making a strange gurgling/ticking noise, a short time after this stops and the boiler has cut out, i have to keep pressing the re-set switch on the boiler and a few mins later it all kicks in again, can you help me with resolving this please

I have a potterton profile 60e. The heating and water is working fine except the boiler has started to make a noise like it's struggling to start. Can anyone tell me what might be going wrong with it. Thanks

It seems your pump is sticking intermittantly. or there is a lack of water in the pump. This then overheats the boiler hence the need to reset the overheat button.
Undo the big chrome screw in the middle of the pump. if air comes out you have an air lock, a small amount of water should come out ie. same as bleeding a radiator. If no water comes out it could be the ball valve in your header tank has got stuck, if so, there will be no water in the tank. push the ball valve and water should start filling. bleed the system and everthing should be okay. Whilst you have the big screw on the pump un-done stick a screwdriver down the hole, you should be able to feel the spindle turning if not the pump has seized, change it,
