on opening the above foot pedal i found a small yellow component
approx 2.4 x 1.4 x 0.7 mm with two protruding wires,marked -250v mp ld2 - loose within the unit. i am unable to figure out where this component should fit into the pedal or if it is really necessary. the pedal seems to work but recently has only worked for a short time before ceasing to operate(overheating?)
please can you help?

take it out and throw away,it is a noise suppressor,law inforced by telefone/broadcasting company when old dialogue systems were used.overheating could be a loose wire connection or a fault on either motor or machine need service cause its working to hard.see what happen if you remove drive belt between motor and machine
