This happened to us. We spent ages trying to find out where the end connected to, but then realised it doesn't. In our case it was the draining pipe that had blown off the blueish end bung, so water was allowed to pump out onto the floor. Simple remedy is to find the plastic bung, and bung it back into the pipe.
