How can I fix my venturer, SC500172, portable dvd player? ?

The wrong ac adapter was plugged into my venturer portable dvd player, SC500172, and it stopped working from then on. The ac adapter mistakenly used was for a laptop so what damage could have been caused by doing this? Can it be fixed? Thanks!!!
