protherm 80e boiler won't ignite. The LCD displays F1 I?

Protherm 80e boiler won't ignite. The LCD displays F1. I have had three specialist out to look at it but none of them have even heard of Protherm and without the manual none of them were able to help.

Does anybody out there know anything about Protherm boilers or let me know where I can pick up a new manual.

I have had the same problem with my protherm E bolier, the engineer on his visit found no faults at all. However it still shows F1 occasionally,i believe fault this is related to the display pcb and the preset hot water temp inputted .My boiler/display pcb only started acting up after i increased the water setting from 55deg to 60deg.The display pcb does not give a steady reading when operating[ hot water running] and cuts out at 52 deg on the display. Also the nearest hot water tap needs to be opened up fully,so the water is moved away from the heat xchanger swiftly to avoid anyhigh heat vback up.

Hi, I have a protherm, just found a manual, in the fault finding it say's, F1 check flame sense electrode and connecting cable, check ignition electrode, check ignition unit on gas valve, check fan operation,

protherm 80e,prolem,won't start,f1 display.
contacted gloworm, went through proceedure of checking pcb conn xt3 bottom black lead with multimeter(red prong to black lead, black prong to earth, setting on AC for 240 volts) in hot water mode.this did not work because when resetting the boiler it went to -4 then f1 immediatly, so i was told by the tech adviser that it was the ignition block, because everything goe's through this from the pcb, complecated.by the way the fan was'nt running either,no power to fan which comes from ignition block.

f1 is the code for "safety lockout"

hiay buddy, i don't know if you got it sorted yet but i got the same boiler.... f1 stands for Fault one.... it's not getting sufficient gas through to run correctly, check you have gas getting to it but apart from that it could be any one of a number of places that could have a fault that is preventing gas getting to the burner.... hope that helped, i don't suppose you know of anywhere i can get spares? my fan has seized up!!

had the same problem, remove the front, behind this you will see the burner box housing, it has 4 spring clips and 2 screws , remove these and take of the cover, to the left of the burner box you will see a pipe
with 2 sensors on it , the top sensor has 2 connectors
to it in between these connectors there it a small button ,press this and it should click in. re-assemble
the casing and reset the boiler (switch with flame).
the boiler should now ignite..
the small switch was the overheat trip..

hi the F1 fault is the overheat thermostats are blocked.
I have the same boiler and are haveing the same problem.
iff you are still haveing this probem, or you have had it fixed and can let me know where you got the parts from please let me know as i have got a manuel.

i was called out to look at his boiler only yesterday.F1 >once u have this the boiler ignition wouldn't start.open up the cover .if u looked left hand side on the pipe there is a senser and abobe it over heat stat(red in the middle) press that red bit to reset boiler o/h stat.after that the ignition will start. You should really find out why its going on overheat first though, possibly pump or blockage.i hope this helps.
Just remember Do not interfere with any gas connections or electrics unless u r competent!!!

i think kev might be right but you also should be corgi registered to replace it as you should be carring out safety checks

I know its late ie feb but i have just got hold of the manual for the protherm 80 e let me know if you need it and i will email it to you. I think the problem is your overheat thermostat it will cost about £12:99 to replace and the manual shows you how.

kev, February 2007
F1 = no flame detected, check flame sense electrode, ignition electrode, check fan, reset overheat stat.
