droneing noise Worcester Greenstar Ri?

i have a worcester greenstar Ri boiler regulary serviced, about a month ago it started makeing a loud droneing noise when the burner was running it does not do this constantly so if i got someone round the chances are it would'nt happen!about a couple of weeks back when the droneing started i turned the burner knob (on right front of boiler)up to about 3 o'clock position instead of down which i had been doing, and the droneing seemed to have gone away until tonight it came back about three times in 20 minutes it is a very loud noise!
Help!!!

I am having similar problem with my greenstar boiler which is 7 years old. It suddenly out of nowhere starts making a really loud (quite scary) noise which gets faster and louder for a few seconds before it suddenly stops. I can hear it thought out the whole house. I have made a recording of it if anyone can help me ? It happens seemingly randomly. I got an engineer in and he was perplexed and fiddle around, said it might need a new piece which would involved taking the boiler part and then he went away and never answered my messages after that. The noise stopped for a while (I have no idea why) and now some six weeks later, has returned, and is happening several times a day again. I want to move home soon so soft want to shell out on a new boiler but am ata a loss as to what to do. Any thoughts ?

i found the answer after the boiler broke down ,the gas fitter diagnosed a faulty fan straight away which he replaced with a new one .boiler working perfectly with no droning noise, peace at last !!

i have exactly the same noise on my greenstar ri sounds like a diesel engine droning through the house.is it hung badly on wall,it was installed by british gas,or is it the fan.

AWOL thank you for your quick response to my query, but the sound i am referring to is a deep drone something lika a large lorry engine ticking over outside the house
What makes the problem more difficult is it has not happened again since i first posted posted, so getting someone in to check the problem is not easy, i have tried several ways to bring on the noise with no success, needless to say i have not removed boiler cover as i would not know what i was looking at
I think the answer lies with someone who has experianced the same problem and had found a solution

could be fan?
problem is peolple cant be specific when it comes to diagnosing strange noises/sights/smells etc..
one mans drone might be another mans whining might be another mans humming might be another mans....
etc etc
this might not mean much to the average punter but slight differences in sound could indicate different faults
thats where the skill in diagnosing comes from
being aware & taking in as much information as possible
to diagnose exact fault there is no substitute for standing in front of boiler
can only give you a best guess
