how can i fix the cd player on a sony 980, it reads no disc?
How do I fix cd player on Sony 980. how do i check if laser is working or if it is out of alignment on the cd player on a sony 980. I get no disc message.
I personally got so fed up I started banging on mine. After awhile I learned that if you look straight at it, then stand it up on the left (chord) end and bang your fist on the bottom right side (while still almost leaning inverted) it would sometimes read a disc. Nowadays, it will read only half a CD. I would love to get mine proffesionally fixed for good.

get a q tip, moisten with pure alcohol from chemists', gently clean the lens.
