bed lights w/ touch control not working!?

I have a headboard with a bridge above that has four small can lights in it with touch control. It has a rather large (3 X 5"?) copper plate on the backside that you touch to turn on and subsequently increase the brightness...three brightness settings. Last night I had difficulty replacing a bulb and ultimately pulled out the glass part leaving the metal in place, but when I did this (before removing the metal screw casing from there), all the lights blew out. These tiny can lights are no more than 3" wide and use four 40W bulbs.... but now, nothing! What do I need to do to repair this monster?lol Did I blow out a sensor? All sensors? I can see no burned places in the wiring. Help!!!!!!!!lol

you may be lucky, and have a fuse in the touch switch, remove all power before checking it with a test meter,if no fuse present, then you will have blown the touch switch, the back emf from the s/c circuit you caused, may have blown the switch
