Window Lock?

One of my windows mechanism is broken from inside so the handle cannot open the window as the handle Square Bar cannot turn the mechanism. I am pretty good with DIY and if I have little help can do most things without any problem. Can anyone help me what is the best way to open this window and change the mechanism.
