Can a PIR fail on a combined External security lamp ie cobined lamp and PIR?

The lamp on an external security lamp (combined unit with PIR and lamp) has failed. Lamp has been replaced but not working. Can the PIR fail?. There is power to the lamp bayonets.

hi,yes a pir can fail!,but in your case it has not,if you have tested as you state there,s power to the bayonets,by this i take it you mean the two prongs on the end of the lamp,if this is the case then it can only be the lamp has gone,which you should be able to see,or more likely it is not located properly onto the prongs,or they have carbon on them from arcing and need cleaning up,hope this helps!!

yes,it can,but check that the bulb is fitting prop in the nipples of the light ,turn power off before replacing the bulb
