Beeping noise won't shut off?

Cash register comes on, when I turn it to the REG point, it starts a long continuous beep, it does this on all key positions, it is a er-290 electronic cash register. I've tried the clear key, the cancel key, unplugging it for a bit and turning it back on, nothing, still beeping. HELP!
