Sanyo Microwave Making Odd Noise?

When our Sanyo combi microwave is in standby, it makes an annoying noise similar to the sound of a hard drive clicking away, constantly. It stop when you unplug it, why is this and can it be rectified?

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer, but I can offer some solidarity. My Panasonic microwave does exactly the same thing. It drives me nuts.
