If it's overheating, and getting worst, it could realy be caused by some dust build up or something obstructing the air vents.
Without opening it, you can try vacuuming along the air vents.
Make sure that all air vents are free of any obstruction.
You may need to open the case.
Before you attempt to open the case, DISCONNECT the power supply and wait about a day to let the capacitors discharge themselves.
Use a can of compressed air to blow away any dust accumulation, in particular on any electronic and electric components like resistors and capacitors. If it looks like there is a lot of dust, working outside, on a windy day, can be a realy good idea...
