Hi Steve, I've got my DEM 10 in bits at the mo., with a different problem. I can see a fuse in the bottom LH corner of the PCB, looking at it face-on from the right side of the m/c with the PCB still mounted. It’s in between the big yellow capacitor and the brown lead and it seems to have some kind of soft plastic cover over it?
Meanwhile, my DEM 10 had the same symptoms as yours and I found that the motor had packed up. Simple enough to test, just remove the orange and blue cable connectors from the PCB and see if the motor runs stand-alone (connect it up with a proper test block, they’re not expensive and you're dealing with 240 volts here - be safe!). I was surprised that a brushless AC motor of this type would fail, so if there are any electricians out there who could explain what on earth can go wrong with them, I’d love to hear from them? Anyway it was a breeze (pun intended!) to replace the motor, found a replacement on tinternet for £31 (that was 3 years ago and it's still running nicely).
