Simpson Encore 605 - no power?

Hi,

There is no power, nor any lights when turning machin on.

Using a multimeter, I have tested:

1) AC mains power coming into machine - ok
2) continuity of power switch (off = no continuity, on = continuity) - ok
3) AC power from switch to main board (with pwr switch on) - ok
4) continuity of little fuse on main board - continuity = ok

Can anyone suggest what else I can try?

Cheers,
Scott

Wow - And I thought I had an hour of Google a) corporate advertising first dozen pages..then b) the useless fixit sites with "have you plugged it in" - duh
and voila again the burnt pin found here - Thank you everyone!!!

Just followed Lincoln Appliance NZ advice on our daughter's washing machine. Found a scorched looking pin, cleaned around it and re-soldered and power was restored. Machine functioning again and daughter can stall on the expense of a new machine. Thanks so much

cant help wondering how many washers get thrown away because of this 1 bad connector as the boards are no longer available....

Wow .... it took me a while to figure out how to take it all part...but once you get the PCB apart and look underneath you can see the burnt out pin...just re-soldered it (thanks to youtube solder pcb) and put it back together and it worked :D. The wife was impressed and I saved us from buying a new Washing machine. Thank guys.

Dry solder joint one pin up from fuse. Massive thanks Lincoln Appliance

Andy, March 2014
Had exactly the same problem. Followed Lincoln Appliances suggestion - fuse was fine but the pin one up from the fuse was dry - a drop of solder and BOSH!! fixed.

Massive thanks to Lincoln Appliances - you guys are Legends!!

Me too, exactly the same - Lincoln appliances you are a legend. Thank you. I saw an Australian site saying it was most likely a power surge and the only option was to replace the whole board! :)

Legend - thanks people.
Exact same issue - pulled the main board out, burnt/dry solder joint one hop from the fuse holder.

Resoldered and the washing machine lives.

Many thanks for posting this fix up, saved me some $$$.

cheers

Your welcome. Thanks for coming back to let me know.

Hi there,

You were spot on.

Removed Main PCB, opened up PCB to discover one of the power connector pins had a dry joint (burnt solder connection on pcb track) - this pin also supplies power to one of the fuse terminals.

Re-soldered and tested continuity from connector pin to fuse terminal - now have continuity.

Re-fitted main board to washer and...wallahhh !

Huge gratitude to Lincoln Appliance NZ, for your swift response and correct diagnosis.

You're a credit to the Industry.

Cheers,
Scott

If you have ac power at both ends of fuse i.e. fuse is ok, then take PCB out of bracket & turn it over to inspect other side. Check for cracked solder joints on pins. Resolder any cracked solder. It is a common fault on this model.
