Clean pump light on Whirlpool washing machine?

We have a Whirlpool washing machine and the clean pump light came on last week. I did the cleaning of the front filter and checked that the pump was spinning. Topped it with a litre of water but still comes on.

It comes on during the washing cycle but if I reset it spins and drains but the light will come on next wash.

Did you look up in to the opening from the tub to make sure nothing was up there causing a restriction in the flow? If all ok then the drain pump may be faulty and sometimes not working at all or running too slow causing a longer than normal drain time.

I tried that from the drum to the pump but nothing fell out or came out

Look underneath and take off the hose that goes from the tub down to the drain pump. It may have a blockage in it.
