Why does a small amount of water enter my toilet bowl after flushing?

Every time I flush my toilet, there is always a small amount of water that enters the bowl from around the rim, when the tank has almost finished re-filling. Its an Ideal Standard wc I 've had since I moved here 6 years ago.

I have a similar problem and it is caused by the float height being incorrect which results in the cistern over filling and the surplus water entering the toilet via the overflow pipe. You simply need to adjust the float height
