how can i identify a fault with a zanussi aquacycle 1300 washing machine?

The washing machine (A Zanussi Aquacyle 1300 ZWC 1300W) will begin a wash cycle but stops at the point where it should drain the water.
I cant tell whether the pump need replacing or the control panel is faulty.
I understand that the fault can be identified from the pattern or sequence of flashes from the control panel lights.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I think that the filter is normally accessed from the front of the machine, on the right.
On this compact machine there is no access to the filter from the front and I could not see any way to gain access to the impeller from the base of the machine.
It appears that the unit is sealed. (Maybe I am just misunderstanding your instructions?)

undo the filter bottom right.shine a torch in to the filter housing and using a long screwdriver make sure the drain pump impeller rotates.it should flick round freely
