With a sharp scalpel and some sticky tape and a bit of care you can join the tape together again - try not to get a twist in it and expect there to be a noticeable "jump" in the recorded output.
If the tape contains digital files - the file where the break happened will be unreadable - if it's analogue sound or video then you will probably get away with it.
