I can ignite the fire, but I lose the flame as soon as I try to put it on its next setting

the fire needs servicing. most likely the pilot light is partially blocked stopping it from reaching a good flame. diy fix is to get the end of the hoover and suck the pilot light area and it should clear the blockage. and the fire should light
