You can get the K-Lite codec pack. It contains most commonly used/needed codecs, and some other that are not "usual".
Also, serious media players include some codecs, at least those for any supported formats, and may also have the capacity to find and download some additional or updated ones.
A very good, universal, video and media player is VLC. It's available for free and do contain most video codecs you may need. It's available here: https://www.videolan.org
