THANK YOU GENTS --still not restoring to a past checkpoint -

The message mean that the state at the time of the last snapshot and the present one are the same.
This often appen when you try to restore to an automatic restore point: the restore point is created even if there is no changes since the last one, but only because the restore point date have been reatched.

You may try restoring to an even earlier point. Try skipping 2 to 5 points.

Try what Paul suggested.

Some very good anti-virus (all free ones):
Free AVG; Avira, free edition; Avast, free edition; Microsoft Security Essentials.
You can find some other ones if you search around, just beweare of the false offerings that will scan your system, then ask you to pay for the ability to fix the "found" problems. Those are scams, or "Rogue" AVs.

Also, if you have more than one drive, and restauration have been disabled on some drive, the restore operation will do nothing on that drive. It may be your case.
Disabling the restore for a drive is good for a data only drive as it will save some drive space, NEVER for a drive where you install any applications.

Your restore function has been disabled, download microsoft fixit tool and run it. Could also be malware, download mbam free and run it (update it first)
