how do i get into a fuse socket?

i have an electic fire, with a fuse socket at the side.

it made a funny noise and a smell came from it, so I switched it off. i think the fuse has gone. however, I can't get into the fuse of the socket to change the fuse.

how the heck do i get into the fuse socket, i've tried sliding it, pressing it and it wont come off to see the fuse?

this is a wall socket that's wired up to the fuse socket, not a plug.

its called a fused spur, not socket,if you get a smell from it you will need to replace it get a new fused spur, turn all power off at fuse box, remove two screws from fused spur, lift it carefully away from the back box, take note of the live, neutral and earth wires, the new fused spur will say live ,in,live out, neutral in neutral out,and earth wire, thats the green and yellow wire, its a ten minute job,if you dont feel up to fitting it,get a pro in ,if any wire burnt remake new connection by cutting of burnt wire,

The fuse holder is next to the switch on the left.

To get to the fuse you need to pull the holder out towards you - there's a small gap - get it started by using a small screwdriver.

Your connector plate may be slightly different but the principle will be similar.

Good luck...
