How can I fix my XMS724N night storage heater?

Heater no longer comes on. It has been checked by local electrician who could not the fault. I think the thermal cut out has burned out. This diagnosis was given on this website by Thomas who said he could supply a retro fit thermal cut out which would solve the problem. He gave a contact mobile number but when I call it it says 'Number not recognised'. Help please.

the XMS was originally fitted with two button stats, some of them had a problem burning up so Dimplex brought out a field repair kit to replace the button stats with a different type, you can obtain one from James Fulton and Son

Not much of an electrician if he could not find the fault. Could be thermal cut out. But best to use a meter to find out. No meter, torch bulb and a battery. Pull fuse on the unit 1st. As well as a cut out, you will also have a thermostat inside, probably with the temp dial connected, other than that, not really anything else except the element itself, which could be what lookes like a coil of wire, a long spring, that runs all through it, check all for continuity, thermostat should switch on/off depending on temperature, you might be able to hear it, but does not mean the connections are made, but probably, open circuit, faulty
