Intermittent battery light?

Kept coming on and going off all the way to Stoke and back. Lights and heater worked coming home. Heater then packed up near home.

Won't start since. Is it the alternator, shouldn't be the (new)battery, or anything else.

L reg Ford Transit. Need to sort it urgently
