how do I replace door boot retaining wire and spring?

replaced the door boot on a maytag neptune washer. the retaining wire and spring aren't long enough to attach. 2 and1/2 inches to spand is too long. can't stretch the spring long enough. it was on there when I took it off. now how do I get it to reattach?

If you do not have 2 people available you can do as I do single handedly :- attach one end of the wire to one end of the spring, put the spring in position on the top of the door boot, run the wire around the groove to reach as close to the other end of the spring as you can, then put a cable tie through the wire loop to form a big circle and the same on the end of the spring, then you can grip the cable ties one in each hand to stretch the spring on to the wire end. Then cut off cable ties. Cheers

what you mean is your not strong enough to put it back on,you need two people to refit it,what you do is to join the spring, fit it on the bottom lip of the tsg,get two small screw drivers, ask some one to hold the spring in place at the bottom of the tsg(sorry what you call the door boot)the place the blades carefully under the spring as you move up to the top guiding the spring into place
