Pfaff Creative 1473 Thread stuck in bobbin race?

My machine jammed and there is a little piece of thread sticking out of bottom of the bobbin compartment, toward the inside. The needle will not move. I tried jiggling the flywheel back and forth to work it free, but it will not move more than a tiny bit. I can't see the other end of the thread piece, and can't budge it at all. How to I remove the bobbin mechanism to get it loose?

There are four slotted screws on the bottom of the machine that attach the computer to the machine. Undo these screws (they are captive) and the computer section can be moved to the side to allow access to the bottom of the arm. There are two slotted screws that attach the bottom panel of the arm. Remove these screws and remove this panel. You can now access the bobbin race.
