Baxi Solo 50/4 Wall Mounted PF Burner Shutdown Problem?

My Baxi Solo 50/4 Wall Mounted PF gas fired central heating boiler ignites when the thermostat calls for heat, stays alight between 30 minutes and an hour, then the burner goes out and reignites. The pilot light remains on all the time while the burner clicks on and off, lighting and going off every 5 seconds. I've changed both the PCB and the Gas Valve, and I've just given the Combustion Box and the Burner, Injector and the Pilot an annual service, (wire brush and inspection). All seem to be in fine working order. Both hot water and heating radiators are supplied and work perfectly whilst the boiler is running. The pilot light goes out after approximately 10 minutes of switching the burner on and off following 1 hour of perfect operation of the boiler. This can't be an overheat thermostat problem, as surely it would have cut out before an hour of perfect operation of the boiler. Any suggestions on how to solve this burner cutting out problem?

all lights are not working

My boiler is poorly. it operates the hot water with no problems. When I put my heating on the burner initially burns for around 15 minutes then starts a 1 minute on - 1 minute off cycle (with no overheat light showing). If i dont turn it off at the thermostat , it will continue to do this all day.

Yes, the problem sounds like the feed to the air switch (black pipe) Replace this and all should be well

Spot on, Alec. My Baxi 50 kept shutting down after 5 seconds or so, but fan kept running, etc and constant reignition. The black pipe to the air-switch was very brittle and split at both ends. Once replaced, perfect operation.

Many thanks for a great hint.

I've had similar trouble with my pf/4 50 wm-the boiler would run fine then the main burners would extinguish (after a few minutes)while the fan etc stayed on calling for duty.Eventually the burners would fire again, for another few minutes-purely random.
The problem was solved by renewing the polymer pipes to the pressure switch-both red and black-these get hard with time and split-and the partial leaks were enough to give partial running-the boiler ends were both ruptured on the inside of the bends-impossible to see without removing the pipes.
Boiler is now as good as new-it dates to the 90's
