Bike gears?

How do I increase the tensioning on the rear derailleur changer (Shimano)?
David Birt, May 2013
Look where the cable goes in. There is a knob, normaly black plastic.

You need to pull it and turn to do fine adjustments. It's spring loaded to engage on blocking notches to prevent it from unintentionaly turning.

Turning counterclockwise will increase the cable's tention and pull the derailleur toward the low (bigger) gears.
