Main 24 Combie Boiler causing power trip of all power to home?

When switching on the boiler the green power light 'flashes' (not on constant), then when selecting 'heat & water' or 'water only' settings the fan cuts in 'ok' but after a few seconds the whole main circuit breaker in the consumer unit trips out. No fault lights appear on the boiler other than the flashing green power so have no clue from the manual what the problem can be. Any ideas ?

I have no skills or experience with boilers but the general case is that a few seconds after the fan starts the Main Gas Valve is asked to open.

It seems that there may be a connection between the Gas Valve being "called" and the trip - an Earth Leakage trip caused by a faulty solenoid of the gas valve perhaps.

But I just guess...
