My Hitachi VCR/DVD player (Hitachi DVD/VCR Combo DV-PF73U) powers down when a cassette tape is put in. I have to turn it back on and it ejects the cassette with the tape (the black thing on the inside that you're not supposed to touch) entangled inside half the time. It won't rewind and it's damaging whatever get's stuck inside.
